UO Toolkit

A free, all-in-one toolkit for Ultima Online. Build a character and see exactly what it comes to — every skill, every artifact and looted mod, your resists, your caps and what your suit is actually doing. Work out swing speed, damage, healing, casting and the rest with the real formulas rather than a rule of thumb. Look up any of the   items, every spell and its success rate, cooldowns, imbuing, crafting and enhancing.

Everything here follows the official shards: it is from uo.com or the game itself, and anything uo.com does not publish is marked [!] as unpublished. An account lets you publish builds, trade in the gold-only marketplace, rate the people you trade with and message other players — but the whole toolkit works without one, and it is free, with nothing held back and nothing to buy.

Create your account

Your username goes on every build you publish and every vote you cast. It cannot be changed later.

Username: 3–20 characters, letters, numbers, underscore, hyphen — and spaces between them, the way a name works in game, so L A N D L O R D is a name you can have. Spaces and capitals do not make a different name, though: whoever holds landlord holds every way of writing it. Date of birth is used once, to check you are old enough to hold an account — it is never shown on your profile.

UO Toolkit

Wardrobe

Dress your profile character - the one in your picture, on your mount and walking the top bar.

Store

The vendor's scrolls from the game: tap an item on Shop Inventory to put it on the Bill of Sale, then Accept. Paid in UO Toolkit gold - your purse is at the top of the page.

Item box

What you have bought in the store. Everything in it is single use: a transmogrification potion is used up when you convert a piece's look with it.

War chest

Pieces you saved off the suit builder, ready to load back in or dye with an item dye from the store - and the statuettes of the mounts you have bought. Pop one and it goes to your Stable.

Stable

Your mounts. Ride one and your character rides it here; put it in the stable to get off. A mount you buy in the store comes straight here.

Before you use this

Template builder

Four builders that share one character: the character itself, the suit it wears, the weapon it swings and the shield in its off hand. Change a skill on one and the others are looking at the same person.

Screenshot to template

Paste a screenshot of the game and it reads your character - name, stats, skills and the suit you are wearing - into a new template and suit you name.

Template builder

The character: race, skills and stats. Everything on it is the real template — nothing here is a preview.

Suit builder

One row per slot, with what your character reads over the top of it, so the numbers you are changing and the numbers they change are on screen together.

Shield builder

The off hand on its own. A shield is not a small weapon — it is judged on Defense Chance, resists and whether it lets you keep casting.

Weapon builder

The base weapon and what loot can carry on it. The ceilings are the ones uo.com publishes for loot.

Results

Everything the character is wearing, added up and set against its ceiling. Nothing here is typed — it is what the template, the suit, the weapon and the shield come to.

Buffs, debuffs and mastery

Everything that changes those figures without being worn. Turn one on and the board above moves.

Calculators

The calculators that answer one question each. They all read the character you built, so nothing needs typing twice.

Damage & swing speed what-if: type any weapon and skills

Any weapon, any skills what-if: type anything

Bandage healing what-if: type any skills

Regeneration hits, stamina and mana per second

What comes back on its own, per second, for the regen you are carrying.

Pet training points what a pet costs to train

Two different numbers decide whether a pet can be built, and they are easy to mix up. Weight is measured against what a stat IS, and is what stops a pet having everything at once. Points are what you spend, and are measured against what you are CHANGING. A pet can sit inside every weight cap and still be unaffordable, or be affordable and still refused.

Crafting

Refinements, enhancement materials and the imbuing calculator.

Armor refinements

Refinements do not change a piece. They move the CAPS your whole suit is measured against — buying maximum resist with maximum Defence Chance Increase, or the reverse.

About UO Toolkit

Version history

What changed, and when. The web app and the phone app ship together, so a version number means the same thing in both. The Excel workbook is stored at v22.4 — it is still built from this same data whenever it is wanted, but it is no longer part of every release.

Permanent stat bonuses

Everything here raises your stat cap for good, so a veteran account and a new one do not build the same character.

Skill cap

Everyone gets the full 720 total skill points — account age stopped mattering for skills when the cap was raised for all players in January 2013. That 720 is a cap on real points: uo.com says in as many words that +skill from jewellery and artifacts is not counted in it, so a template totalling more than 720 is not broken — the difference has to come off your gear.

A single skill is a different matter. It stops at 100 until a power scroll takes it to 105, 110, 115 or 120, and only where such a scroll exists — of the skills this tool offers, have none. Item bonuses do not get past that either: raising a skill over 100 with jewellery still needs the scroll that raised the cap. [!] uo.com does not say that either way. Which is what makes +skill jewellery worth wearing: it does not lift your ceiling, it buys back real points under the 720.

Not every skill can go on jewellery. uo.com's Imbuing page prints five skill groups, and a piece of jewellery carries at most one skill out of each group — five in all — looted or imbued alike. A skill in none of the groups cannot be bought back with +skill at all: of the ones here, . Each skill row shows its group, or says so where there is none.

Skills

Start from a preset or build your own. Type what the character sheet reads with the gear on. The 720 counts real points only, so anything over it has to come from +skill on your jewellery.

Stat potion strength

uo.com's Alchemy Potions table gives a greater strength potion +20 STR and a greater agility potion +20 DEX, and says on both rows that the effect is raised by the Enhance Potions property.

The game does not give 20. Measured in game wearing nothing with Enhance Potions and with no Alchemy on the template, both potions give +21 [!]. With 50 item EP and still no Alchemy the same character gets +31, which is floor(21 × 1.50) — so the 21 is the base, not a rounding artefact. uo.com does not publish 21, which is what the [!] marks. The box below is editable if you have measured something else.

The enhancement follows the Enhance Potions formula: item EP counts up to 50, Alchemy adds 1% per 3.3 points [!] on top of that cap (30% at 99), since Publish 73 the effective figure is never below half your Alchemy [!] whatever you are wearing, and the two together reach 80% [!]. The potion then gives floor(21 × (1 + EP/100)).

The Alchemy half of that is unconfirmed. [!] An earlier reading of +35 at 90 Alchemy in 50 item EP is what put 20 in here originally, and it does not survive a base of 21 — the same arithmetic would give +37. The two zero-Alchemy readings settle the base without needing any formula to do it, so they stand; the +35 needs taking again before the Alchemy arm can be trusted. The item-EP half is covered by both fresh readings and is not in doubt.

Armor refinements

These five boxes are the whole suit's, not one piece's. Each box runs −5 to +5 and anything outside that is pulled back to the nearest end. A single piece moves a single resist by one, and no more — so +5 Physical means five pieces, each giving up a point of Defense Chance. Five is the ceiling because that is as far as the published resist cap goes: 70 up to 75. Minus is not a mistake: a Deflecting refinement runs the other way, giving up resist cap to buy Defense Chance back, where a Reinforced one buys resist cap and pays in Defense Chance. Resist caps clamp 65–75 (Elf energy 70–80); the DCI cap clamps 25–70. A refinement's grade is how MANY resists it touches in one go, each by one: Defense 1 · Protection 1–2 · Hardening 2–3 · Fortification 3–4 · Invulnerability 4–5.

Testing

Features being tried out before they go to everybody. Nothing here is finished, anything here can change or disappear, and none of it is visible to anyone who is not holding the moderation seat.

Armour materials

What people answered on the shared form. Nothing here has been applied — accepted answers are typed into the item corrections by hand, so this screen is a place to read and decide rather than a place to publish.

Retired questions

Trivia questions that are never asked again. Retiring one takes it out of the pool for everybody, on every device, as soon as they next load the app. One press does it — no reason is asked for, because the question is here in full and looking at it is how you tell. This is the list to come back to when there is time to fix or replace them.

Questions for you

What I am waiting on, and why each one matters. Answer what you can, leave the rest, then hand the answers back — nothing here is lost if you close the tab.

Gold and Plat

What everybody has earned, and what it was earned for. Gold accrues for every member; this screen is the only place any of it can be seen, and only you can open it.

Hue maker

Make your own hue from 2 to 5 colours, dark to light. It is saved with its own number from 5001 up, and the store's hue wheel offers it under Your hues for any dye.
